Außer Jammern keine Konsequenzen
"Wir finden keine Leute."
"Wir bilden auch nicht aus."
"Wir schulen nicht um."
Twitter: "Hi, we're run by a cryptofascist who reinstates the accounts of literal nazis while suspending those of press. We'll keep randomly taking away features with no notice and limiting your visibility until you pay us a monthly fee, which you can only do in a handful of countries. Vaccines are bad, the election was rigged, and we love Putin!"
Mastodon: "Hi! You need to choose a server and our DM UX is a little iffy."
Users: "NEVER BEFORE HAVE I FACED A CHOICE THIS HARD"
What happened to Vundle?

Very subtle, nice 😂
The only personality test I will acknowledge:

My "position" on #Wildebeest — and really all #ActivityPub software — is as follows: If it lets you migrate your followers in and out, sure, give it a try; If it does not, you should be VERY wary of using it for your important accounts.
Wildebeest does not let you transfer your followers to/from it, ergo it should not be used, lest you find yourself locked-in to Cloudflare's ecosystem forever. Whether or not you like #Cloudflare is irrelevant, you should not tie your fediverse identity to any company permanently.
It's very frustrating for me to see even large ActivityPub implementations that have been around forever not implement follower migrations. Even #Pixelfed doesn't (although I hear that may be coming this year). Anyways... I asked them if they might implement it, but I don't exactly have my hopes up. https://github.com/cloudflare/wildebeest/issues/238
The internet lately.
In https://calckey.social/notes/9b11x6g4we schreibt @fingolas
"since November, the shared articles received almost as many visits via the Mastodon-account alone as via Twitter in total. This suggests that the numbers are comparable, although the Mastodon account has grown from 500 to around 40,000 followers in this period. On Twitter, @heiseonline is followed by over 240,000 accounts"
Ich soll $42 bezahlen, damit ich ein Paper herunterladen darf, in dem untersucht wird, warum junge Wissenschaftler Papers lieber im Netz raubkopieren, anstatt dafür zu bezahlen.
For German public radio broadcaster 'Deutschlandfunk Kultur' @monoxyd did a wonderful piece about decentralised social networks, #Mastodon and #SmallWeb, talking to @aral and @Rainer_Rehak.
If you are able to understand German I very much recommend you listen to.
Read my lips:
An audio show that can only be played in an Apple player on an Apple device is not a podcast.
An audio show that can only be played in Spotify is not a podcast.
Repeat ad nauseam for any other proprietary audio show platforms.
A #podcast is an #RSS feed with enclosures of audio files which are playable across the whole ecosystem of podcast players.
Any reporter who reports on exclusive audio shows and calls them “podcasts” are doing a grave disservice to their audience.
